2006-07 Plans

Adam Smith, Waynesburg College
Oustanding Bonner Recognition
1. Awards celebration at the end of the year recognizing not just the Bonners with the most hours but Bonners that have really made a difference.
2. It is important because some Bonners may do great things with their site but may not have the most hours so they wont be recognized. Resources include our Bonner Coordinator, all of the Bonner Students, and the people who run the service sites
3. My vision by next June is to have a recognition process in place and to successfully honor the many Bonners who go above and beyond. By November I hope to have the criteria in place and begin finding the outstanding Bonners.
4. By the end of November the criteria needs to be in place. By the end of March the Bonners being recognized need to be decided upon. At the banquet in April the Bonners need to be Recognized.
5. Talk to Bonner Coordinator and get process in place
-Create a selection criteria
-Keep tabs through out year on outstanding Bonners
-Create awareness
-Award them at banquet in April

Hanna Oliver and Lauren Parham, Carson-Newman College

Jelesia Clyburn, Antioch College
Further establish facilities for students of color (i.e Coretta Scott King Ctr.)
Decrease retention rates.
Increase networking and communications skills among the adm. Within the school.
Make service sites more accessible
Increase Student support for study hours and service
Increase funding and clairity of requirements. Goals:
Complete service hours more steadily.
Twice as more Bonners entering and staying
Continuance of successful stratigies
Close ties with College President and Bonner Director
Studetn basic needs are met to accomplish Bonner Requirements
Utilize Phonathon program
Make the accessible for program sustainability and campus diversity.

Jennifer Barnes, College of the Ozarks
1. -Set up a guideline for needed past experience on application!
- Get current Bonners involved in selection
2. It is important for the applicant to have past service experience so we know they want to be in the program for the service and not for the easy work site. Getting current students involved in selection can help because the students work with the person on a daily basis while the director just makes sure they are going out into the community.
3. Set up an all Bonner service day, invite applicants and see how they work.
4. Get director of changes needed to be made and strat planning with him by October.
5. Meet with each new class and discuss what guidelines should be set on potential Bonners
- Set up service day to include recognition of current Bonners to show potential Bonners their work is real and getting appreciated.
- Include students to sit in on interviews of potential Bonners.

Kristie Carter, Depauw University
Invite for retreats but at their expense, they could stay with existing Bonners
Invite and Host something when it is an already busy weekend when everyone comes back. Ex. Little Five, Monon
Start a news letter to keep them updated. Bonner takes up a lot of time when you are in college, so it becomes a big part of your life. Why not keep up on it? Ex. Make sure they know abut the blog.
The family idea will be a great way to have a close network in the future. Can we do like a pen pal style?
Goals:
Talk to advisors to see if possible
Start working on it ASAP
At least one news letter by the end of next academic year
Alumni chair position in full swing by academic year of 2007-2008
I would like 20 Alumni to come to our Monon event (what ever I decide that to be) in fall 2007, November

Melissa Porter, University of Louisville
Ideas:
Set up table at welcome weekend
Attend freshman orientation and give out info on Bonner Program
Create an application
Create an interview process
Have a “swearing” in ceremony for those accepted into program ( so they will take program seriously)
Goals:
Have at least 60 active members by the end of the fall semester
Get present Bonners Active again through mandatory meetings
How:
Pitch all my ideas to coordinator and draw up a plan
Regroup with other U of L Bonners
Put a plan into action.
