2006-07 Plans

Bryan Faller, The College of New Jersey
Trips to places affected by Natural Disasters: Indonesia, New Orleans etc.
Trips that will inspire: Africa, China, and Central America etc. to continue serving.
Trips that help reorientate us to see need/opportunities to serve in the everyday. Local centers/ retreats, cities etc. Because different people have different needs, trips both should serve its people and be served.
Steps to get this plan rolling:
We need to establish an understanding of the need in the community we are to be serving in order to better serve it. If we only serve the periphery we really will never address or touch upon the issues that deeply underlie the tragic social injustices that we see manifestoes from their deep sided issues
Why this trip is needed: (above)
We also need to leave the life of the people w are serving. We need primary knowledge of their quality of life by experiencing it ourselves.
When?
Most important aspect: Reflection, understanding, and length of time.
Goals: Analyze and focus on specific aspects of poverty
3-4 Days very intense! Voluntary!
Discuss:
Understand the issues of the individual.
Publicize through paperJa’nell

The Reflection Project- Renee Fabian West Chester U of PA
The idea: To create a reflection project to be completed each semester in addition to monthly meetings. There will be a list of reflective questions that all must be answered, but this can be done in any way the member chooses whether it is through s journal or painting or film project for example.
Background: Group reflection is important, but so is individual reflection. The project will place more emphasis on personal reflection, as it is easier to reflect on a very personal level, which is essential for growth. The only resources needed are questions to include on the lit. These can be found from information gathered at the conference from online resources, like the Bonner website, and past group reflection questions.
Vision: At the end of each semester, our program will have tangible creative and exciting projects to show off. This will help raise awareness and support for our program. Most importantly, our Bonners will have gotten the maximum benefit from their service.
Goals:
- Compile list of questions: from now until August 30h
- Distribute and explain project: September
- Collect/and present finished projects: December and April
- Gather feedback from students and staff: May
Action Steps:
- Collect possible questions
- Discuss with leaders which to include
- Compile and finalize list of questions
- Draft project description
- Present project packet for approval
- Make copies
- Explain and distribute at meeting
- Hope for the best.
- Gather feedback and determine strengths/weaknesses of the project.

Yicell Hodge, Middlesex County College
Scottie’s Place
Things to be done:
Contact the family that runs Scotties place
Organize the students that are going to attend
Find out if we can stay on a campsite the entire time we are there or find somewhere to stay
When:
-Schedule the trip during spring break 2007 or summer 2007 for about 3 day to a week
-Educate the students about hunger and homelessness
-Have food drive, clothing drive and fundraise so that we can take something to the family and these kids that attend the camp.
-National travel fund
-Grants
-Fundraising
How:
We can drive out schools vans to WV
Why:
Scotties place is a camp for homeless children, I thing that f our school sends a group of Bonners they will get first hand experience about the different faces of homeless things like you don’t have to be a grown up to be homeless b/c some kids are born and then have no where to live after awhile. I went there during SLI 2004 and the atmosphere was just beautiful and fulfilling. So I definitely think it would have a positive effect on all there lives as well.
