New Jersey Bonner AmeriCorps Member Page
Welcome to the New Jersey AmeriCorps Bonner Leader Program!
You are joining a national network of over 2500 young adults participating in service-based scholarship programs in their communities and on their campuses through the Bonner Program. By participating in the New Jersey AmeriCorps Bonner Leader Program you will:
- Work with your community on issues of education, human needs, environment, or public health
Commit to a service experience where you will complete approximately 10 hrs/week of service during the academic year
- Participate in the Bonner Program by performing service, engaging in reflection, and taking part in leadership and enrichment activities both on campus and in your community
- Belong to a larger Bonner network of more than 75 campuses and 2500 members nation-wide

The New Jersey AmeriCorps Bonner Leader Program
The New Jersey AmeriCorps Bonner Leader Program provides members with three types of living allowances and education awards based on the amount of hours served.
- 1 year - 1700 hour term: Living allowance of up to $12,500 and an educational award of $4725.00 upon completion.
- 1 year - 900 hour term: Living allowance of up to $5771.00 and an educational award of $2362.50 upon completion.
- 1 year - 300 hour term: Living allowance of up to $1900.00 and an eEducation award of $1000.00 upon completion.
Upon successful completion of your term of service, you can accesss your educational award by logging into https://my.americorps.gov.
Reporting Requirements
You are required to complete and submit the following paperwork when you begin your AmeriCorps term of service:
- Copy of Proof of Citizenship (Birth Certificate, valid passport, permanent resident card)
- Copy of Social Security Card
- Copy High School Diploma/GED equivalent or College Transcripts
- Copy of Driver's License
- Resume
- Class Schedule

The following paperwork is submitted online during your AmeriCorps term of service via the Bonner Web-based Reporting System (BWBRS).
- A new BWBRS Community Learning Agreement for every semester for each regular placement
- Monthly Hour Log Reports (printed one month per page with all required signatures)
- End-of-semester Service Accomplishment Reports for each regular placement
In addition, your supervisor will complete the following during your term of service:
- Midpoint Evaluation
- Endpoint Evaluation
Your supervisor will discuss the evaluation with you and provide you with a copy.
The following paperwork is required to be filled out when you end your AmeriCorps term of service:
- AmeriCorps Exit Form: The exit form and all outstanding paperwork must be received by the Foundation within 20 days of your exit date.

- Report: The Effective Education (PDF) — This Report outlines ways for members to increase the value of the Education Award, primarily through imparting an understanding of the college financial aid process and clarifying the rules that govern the administration of the Education Award within college financial aid offices. The report outlines how students should report their AmeriCorps earnings on the FASFA.

The New Jersey AmeriCorps Bonner Leader Program and the New Jersey State Commission on National and Community Service host of series of training events and service days for members. Below is the event calendar for the the 2007-2008 program year. Your supervisor will provide you with more information on these events.
