the highest elevation of any college campus east of the Mississippi.
It is situated 4,000 feet above sea level in the Blue Ridge
Mountains of Western North Carolina.
Lees-McRae is best reached from Boone, North Carolina, by
highways N.C. 105 to route 184 which leads to Banner Elk,
a distance of 17 miles. The College is reached from Johnson
City, Tennessee, 43 miles to the west, by highways U.S. 19E
to Elk Park and route 194 to Banner Elk.
