[a] Civic Engagement Curriculum modules:
Managing Up (contact Ariane for this module) and Leadership Compass modules in the Civic Engagement Curriculum, could be helpful to provide students in preparation for One-to-One Meetings. Managing Up provides a framework for someone to think about the style of their manager or supervisor and how to best ask for the kind of support and coaching one needs. Using a simple approach of four styles (North, South, East, and West), it corresponds to the Leadership Compass workshop, which introduces the styles. It can also be a good conversation point within a One-to-One Meeting, providing a way to address the styles of both individuals, which can be helpful.
Other general management workshops in the Civic Engagement Curriculum that may be helpful for new managers as a background include Developing a Foundation for Managing Others (contact Ariane for this module) and Planning Effective Meetings.
Community Asset Mapping is a more comprehensive training that also allows for students to get a more thorough picture of what are the assets and needs within a community and how they may be of service.
Find these workshops online here.
