Fall 2025 Bonner Network Meeting

Each autumn, administrators and faculty in the Bonner Network gather for a few days of sharing, learning, and rejuvenating fun. This year, we’ll meet again at the Claggett Center near Frederick, Maryland from November 10-13, 2025. At each meeting, participants engage in a variety of:

  • All Network Sessions: typically, these center major themes central to our work in student development and education, campus-community partnerships and projects, and institutional and community change.

  • Strategy Sessions: typically, these provide campus teams or small clusters of cross-campus teams with opportunities to share models and best practices, as well as to work on strategies or plans for their own programs, centers, and institutions.

  • Elective Workshops: generally with 4-5 choices, participants can enrich their own professional development. Keep in mind that anyone attending can organize and lead a workshop. You can submit a proposal below.

  • Networking and Social Activities: in the evenings, participants gather for conversations, games, music, and other fun. Snacks and beverages are provided.

  • Meals: all meals except one during the conference are provided onsite in a buffet-style dining hall. Meals include All include dinner on Friday, breakfast and lunch on Saturday, three meals on Sunday, and breakfast on Monday. People who choose to stay offsite will also have meals at Claggett and pay just for these related meals and programming expenses.

The Claggett Center offers modest hotel-style accommodations in the Christiane Inn and surrounding cottages. However, single rooms (with private baths) and double rooms in the Inn (with a shared private bath) are limited. Costs for the conference will vary by room type, with singles provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

All Group Sessions: typically, these center major themes central to our work in student development and education, campus-community partnerships and projects, and institutional and community change. Registration costs for 2025 are as follows:

  • Single Room in Christiane Inn (~30 available) for $435:
    including the seven meals noted above.

  • Double Room in Christiane Inn (16 rooms/36 available) for $380:
    including the seven meals noted above.

  • Cottage Room (which may be a single or shared room with a shared bath) for $325:
    including the seven meals noted above.

  • Participation and Meals Only for $225:
    including the seven meals noted above. Note that there is not a lower fee for those who want to attend but not eat at Claggett, as we must provide group counts for all attendees.

Rooms are assigned on a first-come, first served basis by registration date, in terms of type. The system will notify you of available options when you register. As we must provide housing information to the Claggett Center in time for them to assign keys, please complete registration by Thursday, October 9, 2025. We suggest that you book your travel to participate in the full event, starting with dinner at 5:30 pm on Sunday, November 10 and ending by 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 13, 2024.

WORKSHOP LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

We invite elective workshop proposals from attendees, including administrators, AmeriCorps VISTA members, faculty, graduate and national partners, alumni, and others. We especially seek workshops that showcase best practices, models, and examples related to the Bonner Program, community-engaged learning, integrative pathways, and professional development opportunities. Typically, we will offer 4-5 elective workshops during the Bonner Fall Network Meeting, with about 100-125 participants choosing from these options.

To submit a workshop, please complete the proposal form below by Thursday, October 9, 2025.

TRAVEL AND LODGING

Participants should arrange their own travel to and from the meeting location: Claggett Center in Buckeystown. The address is 3035 Buckeystown Pike, Adamstown, MD 21710.

AIRPORTS

The Claggett Center is located about an hour, depending on traffic, to several airports including:

  • Baltimore Washington Airport (about 60 miles; one hour)

  • Dulles International Airport (40-60 miles, depending on route; roughly an hour)

  • Reagan International Airport (48 miles, roughly an hour)

DRIVING AND PARKING

We recommend getting a rental car if you fly or take the train. You could also arrange Uber or Lyft, but the cost may be high due to distance. You can post a messages in the Bonner Learning Community to network with colleagues about ride sharing. Parking is available for free at the Claggett Center. You’ll enter from the main road and keep going around it until you reach the parking lots near the Christiane Inn and Meeting spaces.

WHAT TO BRING

  • Cooler weather is here, with weather.com calling for highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s and possible rain.

  • So, you'll likely want to bring layers (like sweaters) and an umbrella, raincoat and/or jacket. Dress is smart casual (i.e., comfortable).

  • Remember that the Claggett Center does not supply small appliances (like hair dryers or alarm clocks), so please bring what you need.

  • While a small shampoo and soap bar are provided, bring your toiletries, medications, and other personal items like your toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.

  • Don’t forget your: ID, wallet, cell phone, chargers, and laptop (if you want to use it).
