Berry College Invites Applicants for Assistant Director/Coordinator of the Bonner Scholars Program!

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Berry College invites applications and nominations for the position of Assistant Director/Coordinator of the Bonner Scholars Program (BSP). We seek a candidate who will work closely with students and community partners to facilitate engagement experiences that are mutually meaningful. The Bonner program at Berry encourages students to strengthen their skills and commitment as effective community problem-solvers. The successful candidate will nurture the culture of the program as part of Berry's comprehensive efforts to shape a Good Neighbor culture on campus and in relation to the needs of our diverse local community.

BSP is a four-year scholarship program for undergraduate students who have a need for financial assistance and a desire to improve their local community through ongoing involvement. A cohort-based scholarship program enrolling twenty students in each cohort, the BSP consists of approximately eighty students from diverse backgrounds. Each student completes 140 hours of community service each semester with a non-profit organization in the local community as well as two summers of service consisting of 280 hours. BSP student teams also work collaboratively with community partners to understand complicated social problems and develop sustainable solutions. Students are asked to reflect regularly on the significance of their service and its connection to their broader educational experience.

The Assistant Director/Coordinator of the BSP will provide program leadership that supports students' understanding of civic engagement and community building. The successful candidate will manage community service placements, organize co-curricular programming and annual service trips for Bonner Scholars, assist in the management and oversight of the program budget, oversee the operations of the Bonner Leadership Team, and supervise up to five students in the LifeWorks program (interns, peer counselors, communications manager). This position reports to the Director of the Bonner Center for Community Engagement (BCCE).

REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree. Previous student development experience and familiarity with community engagement/development work is preferred.
