The University of Hawai’i Hilo invites applicants for their Bonner Program Coordinator position within the Center for Community Engagement in the Academic Affairs Division. The position is full-time and expected begin June 2024 or soon thereafter.
Duties:
Develops and coordinates the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo Bonner Leader Program in compliance with National Bonner Program guidelines
Develops and implements plans to identify, recruit, and select students
Plans, organizes, and leads program orientation
Plans, organizes, and leads student leadership workshops
Tracks student's participation and manages records utilizing web-based reporting systems
Addresses concerns and issues related to student performance and participation
Functions as the primary liaison with community partners
Creates and revises community partner plans and agreements
Monitors partnership progress with respect to community impact and student development
Conducts community partner site visits throughout the year
Oversees affiliation and communicates with the Bonner Foundation Prepares an end-of-year report for the Bonner Foundation and the university
Attends national and local conferences with university students
Co-presents with Bonner Leaders at statewide conference on education
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in any field and (2) years of professional experience.
Demonstrate knowledge and experience working with students in organizations, teams, associations, or other structured groups
Demonstrate knowledge of university policies, rules, and practices
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse students, faculty, staff, and community
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders, and members
Demonstrated ability to effectively organize and carry out multiple tasks and manage work priorities
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in a variety of situations
Familiarity with post-secondary collegiate mission and goals especially those related to student-focused programs, i.e. leadership development and civic engagement
Demonstrated ability to identify problems, organizational and interpersonal, and use reasoning and logic to accurately determine causes, and apply principles and practices to determine, evaluate, integrate and implement practical solutions in an effective and timely manner
Demonstrated ability to work independently with moderate to no supervision
Valid driver’s license
Desirable Qualifications:
Knowledge of the Bonner Leader Program
Two (2) years of professional experience in a post-secondary setting that supports student development and success
Considerable knowledge and experience working with students in organizations, teams, associations, or other structured groups
Considerable knowledge of university policies, rules, and practices
Experience in recruitment and/or retention of university students
Certification or participation in professional development programs on leadership principles and practices and/or in leadership development programming
Experience in seeking and obtaining extramural funding from public and/or private sources
Experience with developing, managing, and reconciling program budgets
Demonstrated ability to establish positive working relationships in a multicultural environment
Familiarity of the Carnegie Engaged Campus Classification, especially in regards to university-community partnerships
Demonstrates an innovative, enthusiastic, and positive attitude
