The Princeton AlumniCorps Emerging Leaders (EL) program offers a transformative leadership development experience for mid-career professionals working in the nonprofit and public sectors. Designed for individuals with approximately 3–10 years of full-time experience, the program equips participants with practical leadership tools, a strong peer network, and opportunities for real-time application through a structured, cohort-based model.
The Emerging Leaders program is particularly relevant to individuals connected to the Bonner network, including Bonner alumni and professionals in community-engaged fields, as it builds upon shared values of service, equity, and civic leadership. Through eight hybrid sessions held between September and April in the New York City metro region, participants engage in facilitated trainings, peer consulting, and reflective exercises focused on self-awareness, people management, equitable leadership, and organizational strategy.
A key highlight of the program is the Stretch Project, which allows participants to apply their learning directly within their organizations. These projects are designed to foster professional growth while creating tangible impact, such as improving team systems, strengthening community partnerships, or launching new initiatives. Participants also benefit from peer to peer consulting and access to a diverse network of nonprofit leaders across the region.
The program has demonstrated strong outcomes, with over 85% of participants reporting high satisfaction and nearly all participants indicating growth in leadership competencies such as communication, delegation, and emotional intelligence. Additionally, more than 90% of participants report expanding their professional networks, a critical component for those navigating leadership pathways in mission-driven work.
