Announcing the Refreshed Bonner Wiki

With over three decades sharing campus examples, guides, and documents to download, the Bonner Foundation is excited to announce a recently updated Bonner Resources Wiki.

This summer, the five National Bonner Summer Interns at the Foundation — Anu Baskar (George Mason ‘24), Camila Guayasamin (The College of New Jersey ‘24), Dominique Dore (University of Houston ‘22), Mikaela Chin (High Point University ‘24) and Selah Ndouta (Capital University ‘22) — worked with the Foundation staff to refresh the look of the wiki’s homepage and, more importantly, update campus examples and other documents.

They devoted particularly attention to the Bonner Program Management and Community-Engaged Learning sections. In addition, Mikaela and Dominique also created this short video on how to navigate this wealth of knowledge.

What is the Bonner Wiki?

The Bonner Wiki is an online platform accessible to everyone, with free training guides, handouts, and other resources that the Foundation encourages students, staff, and faculty to utilize.

The Wiki has specific sections supporting:

  • the creation and improvement of Bonner Programs

  • managing and deepening community-engaged learning across campus;

  • profiles of the 70+ campuses in the Bonner Network and access to presentations given at our national conferences.

As explained in “How to Navigate the Bonner Wiki Home Page”, there are three main categories:

  • Bonner Program Resources in blue,

  • Campus Engagement in green, and

  • Our Network in yellow.

Below each main category, there are three subcategories to ease the navigation experience for the site visitor.

Who is the Bonner Wiki for?

The Wiki is for everyone! The target audience includes students, Bonner Program staff, faculty, and any professional interested in the field of community engagement in higher education.

Where do I find resources if I am…

The Bonner Resource Wiki has a wealth of material. For example, if you are a….

  • Bonner student leader:

    • in a new program, or ready to take on more responsibility/leadership, navigate to “Bonner Student Leadership” under “Program Management” for guides on Bonner Leadership Team (BLT) roles, and structures.

    • looking for material to facilitate meetings, the “Education and Reflection” section is a great place to obtain training guides, on topics ranging from identity reflection to leadership development.

  • Bonner Program staff member:

    • planning Freshman Orientation, refer to “Bonner Orientation” under “Student Development” to find goals, objectives, and suggested agendas to create a successful orientation.

    • looking for ways to integrate community-engaged capstone projects into the Bonner program, the “Junior-Senior Capstone” section under “Student Development”, includes valuable information on the purpose, expectations, and process regarding the projects; along with excellent student examples.

  • Faculty member:

    • interested in integrating community engagement experiences in different majors, minors, and general education programs, visit the “Academic Pathways” section.

    • interested in joining the growing number of allies in the Community-Engaged Learning Initiative to shift culture, policies and infrastructure to sustain work in advancing community engaged learning across curricula, the information can be found under “Community-Engaged Learning Initiative.”

How can the Bonner Wiki already make an impact?

While working on the Bonner Wiki, National Bonner Summer Intern, Mikaela Chin has found many resources and best practices she intends to bring back to her Bonner Leader Program at High Point University.

“As a member of my Bonner Leadership Team, one of the resources I will be sharing with BLT and I think will be very beneficial to my Bonner program are the training guides. My hope is that the trainings we facilitate, will be applied by the Bonners at their sites and help strengthen the community partnerships and the quality of service we provide to the community.” ~Mikaela Chin

Anu Baskar, National Bonner Summer Intern, also plans to utilize the Bonner Wiki when she returns to her university for the upcoming Fall 2022 semester.

“The Bonner Wiki has provided me with endless resources to help me gain a better understanding of Mason’s Bonner program. The various campus examples on the Wiki have helped me understand how diverse each program is and how the Bonner Network’s continuous resources inspire us to connect even further.” ~ Anu Baskar
