Carnegie Community Engagement Classification 2024 Launched

The Carnegie Elective Classifications Central Office, led by Dr. Marisol Morales, Lauren Bartshe-Handlen, and Dr. John Saltmarsh, has announced that the first time and re-classification applications for the 2024 Carnegie Elective Classification for Community Engagement are now available on GivePulse. Interested campuses must initiate an application by October 31, 2022. The deadline to submit an application is May 1, 2023.

Click here to access the application portal in GivePulse. This can guide campus coalitions and teams to properly prepare their responses. Additionally, the new Carnegie Elective Classifications’ website offers an overview of the community engagement classification (timeline, application fee structure, PDFs of the application questions) and resources to support applicants including workshops, webinars, and publications.

Campuses that received the Classification in 2015 may undertake re-classification in order to retain the Classification or elect to undertake re-classification during the 2026 cycle. Campuses classified in 2020 do not need to apply for re-classification at this time. Campuses that received the classification prior to 2015 and did not re-classify in 2020 are not eligible to re-classify, but are invited to again participate in the first-time classification.
