Bonner Foundation Announces New Collaboration with Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota

The Bonner Foundation is excited to announce a new collaboration with the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota, which will support Bonner students and alumni if  they pursue a master’s degree at the School.

The Bonner Program, based in New Jersey, provides diverse low-income, under-represented, and first-generation students with the opportunity to attend college, while engaging their talents and education in building and supporting communities. It’s the largest privately funded, service-based college scholarship program in the country.

As a result of this new collaboration, the Humphrey School will provide financial assistance including application fee waivers and guaranteed scholarships to Bonner students and alumni who attend the School, to alleviate the economic barriers to pursuing a graduate degree.

The Humphrey School benefits by building connections to a talented pool of predominantly underrepresented, first-generation students who are civically minded, high achieving, and contribute significantly to their campuses' and communities' culture of service and higher learning.

The Humphrey School ranks among the country’s top 10 professional public policy and planning schools, widely recognized for its success in advancing the common good through a comprehensive, world-class program. The School offers six distinctive master’s degrees, a doctoral degree, and five certificate programs that match students’ passion with the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to solve real-world challenges.

Bonner Scholar/Leaders and alumni who apply for admission to any of the Humphrey School's six master’s degree programs will receive the following benefits from the School:

  • All students: Automatic approval for application fee waivers upon request

  • In-state students: A minimum scholarship of $10,000, with further consideration for additional merit-based scholarship support, upon acceptance and enrollment at the Humphrey School

  • Out-of-state students: A minimum scholarship of $10,000 and a non-resident tuition waiver (a roughly $20,000 value), with further consideration for additional merit-based scholarship support, upon acceptance and enrollment at the Humphrey School

“The Humphrey School is thrilled to collaborate  with the Bonner Foundation,” said the School’s Director of Admissions Michael Massad. “We have a deep appreciation for the caliber of Bonner students, given their combination of academic achievement and commitment to public service. We look forward to welcoming many Bonner students to the Humphrey School in the years ahead."
