The Office of Civic & Community Engagement works to cultivate and maintain mutually beneficial partnerships with community organizations, and to connect them with numerous student organizations and individual students. The primary responsibility of the Assistant Director of Civic & Community Engagement and the Bonner Program is to assist the Director in providing volunteer and educational opportunities for students that prepare them for lives of active citizenship while meeting community-identified needs. The Assistant Director works closely with the Director in the administration of the 60-student Bonner Program, a service based scholarship program for low-income, diverse students. They are a member of the Student Life staff reporting to the Director of Civic & Community Engagement and the Bonner Program.
