Nazareth University is excited to announce that we are reaching out to Bonner Alumns to help us start our new Bonner Leader Program! Nazareth is partnering with PCCE (Partners for Campus-Community Engagement) and AmeriCorps*VISTA to provide this year-long (renewable up to 3 years) national service opportunity to assist us in launching a Bonner Leader program on our campus and in our community of Rochester, NY!
Nazareth is just at the start of our Bonner journey, starting with 15 Bonner Leaders this past fall. The Nazareth Bonner AmeriCorps*VISTA member will play a critical role in the development of this program as it phases in 15 new students a year until it reaches full capacity of 60 Bonner Leaders. Tasks include refining the recruitment and selection process, strengthening and streamlining the systems for managing community partnerships and placements, and refining the developmental curriculum.
Member Duties: Supervised by Nazareth’s Director of Community Engagement, Adam Lewandowski, Nazareth's Bonner Leader Manager, the VISTA will serve as a Program Coordinator, assisting with recruitment, selection and training of Bonner Leaders and connecting with community organizations to develop projects that center community voice, are reciprocal, and of impact. During year 1 of the project, the VISTA member will conduct community site visits designed to strengthen the partnerships and provide formative feedback for the Bonner students. The VISTA member will also support the Bonner Leaders’ growth by co-facilitating and co-designing college and community success workshops that are part of a 4-year developmental civic engagement curriculum from the Bonner Foundation.
