Forest Foundation was started in 1993 as a grant making foundation focused on new, small, and emerging non-profits supporting under- resourced youth and families in Essex County, Massachusetts. It has evolved into a regional grant maker with a sharp focus on the leadership development of undergraduate college students in the non-profit sector. We currently support 65 summer non-profit internships in Greater Boston, make venture grants to young leaders and their initiatives in New England and New York State, and continue to make regional grants to new and emerging social service agencies in Greater Boston.
WHY A SUMMER WITH FOREST FOUNDATION?
You make a difference in the lives of others through a summer-long fellowship including a non-profit internship. You learn about the larger non-profit sector and your role in it- along the way. You intern at an effective non-profit agency for 10 weeks, learning about the industry and mission from inside. You join a cohesive community of young people who, like you, want to change the world. You gather with this community throughout the summer for days of networking, workshops, reflections, and professional development. You form a team with other interns and make real grants to actual Greater Boston non-profits. You build on your summer experiences with enhanced work training, independent projects, and industry connections that will lead to meaningful resume entries and possible future employment opportunities. And you will get compensated with $7,500 to do it!
Forest Foundation hosts paid summer internships within the Greater Boston area for undergraduate students interested in nonprofit service work. Many Bonner alumni & students in past years have interned with them.
