The Black Girls Govern Ambassadors Program is a free, 9-month leadership initiative designed to empower the next generation of civic leaders. We are looking for dynamic college students for our inaugural cohort who are ready to serve as civic engagement representatives on their campuses and in their local communities.
Through leadership development, mentorship, civic education, and hands-on advocacy experience, this program strengthens the leadership pipeline for Black girls while expanding political awareness and community impact. Whether you are a seasoned campus leader or looking to step into advocacy for the first time, this program is designed to support, elevate, and amplify your voice.
What you will gain from the program:
Exclusive Leadership Development: Participate in specialized monthly workshops focused on professional growth, public policy, and community organizing.
Funding for Your Ideas: Receive funding every semester to pitch, plan, and execute a custom civic event on your college campus
Mentorship & Networking: Connect directly with organization directors, policy professionals, and a nationwide network of peer advocate
Portfolio-Building Experience: Design and execute a comprehensive advocacy capstone project that proves your ability to create measurable community impact.
Eligibility Requirements:
Must be an undergraduate student for the full 2026–2027 academic year
Demonstrate an interest in civic engagement, leadership, and youth advocacy.
Commit to fostering a collaborative, empowering environment for Black girls and young women
Time commitments
To ensure a successful and sustainable experience for all cohort members, ambassadors must be able to meet the following expectations throughout the 9-month term (September 2026 – May 2027):
Weekly Contribution: Dedicate 3 to 5 hours per week to ambassador responsibilities, campus organizing, and project development.
Monthly Leadership Workshops: Attend a monthly 90-minute virtual evening workshop held on the third Wednesday of each month at 7:00 PM EST.
Campus Event Execution: Plan and host one civic-minded campus event per semester.
Capstone Project: Complete two advocacy capstone project over the course of the program
Check-Ins: Participate in virtual 1:1 check-ins with program directors to receive personalized mentorship and project guidance.
