Join this inspiring session in which we will have a chance to connect with and learn from others in the Bonner Network about how they have and are making contributions to the lives of people and communities. This larger plenary session will feature opportunities to reflect on the work we do and meet some new people through small group discussion. Plus, we'll have a chance to hear from a partner, alum, and president who have amazing stories to share. Pre-register here!

Holly couch, 2020 graduating senior bonner, centre college (danville, kentucky)

Holly Couch is a 2020 graduating senior and Bonner Scholar at Centre College in Danville, KY. Her work in Bonner has centered around advocating for early education equity in low-income communities. Her passion for education is rooted in her own experience as a first-generation college student. Holly also served on the Bonner Leadership Team. She majored in Politics and double minored in Social Justice and International Studies. Holly will be attending the David Rosenberg College of Law at the University of Kentucky beginning in the fall.

Shilretha Dixon, Director of the Spring Hill Neighborhood Association (DeLand, Florida)

Shilretha Dixon is the Director of the Spring Hill Resource Center for the City of DeLand, which provides a convenient location where members of the Spring Hill community can obtain assistance on job searches, resume creation, unemployment compensation, notary services, social security, under-insured health care coverage, volunteer hours, and other income based assistance programs. Spring Hill Resource Center has been a sustained partner with Stetson University and its Bonner Program.

Shilretha also wanted to share this video, created by TM Hibel, a Bonner from Stetson University, who has served with the Spring Hill Resource Center.

Tony Richardson, Bonner Alum and EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR of the Nord Foundation (Amherst, Ohio)

Tony served throughout Lorain County, Ohio, as a student. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Politics and African-American Studies from Oberlin College, and a Juris Doctorate’s degree from The Ohio State University Michael E. Moritz College of Law. Tony has professional experience in law, government, and education, including as councilman at-large in the city of Lorain, becoming the youngest person of color elected to an at-large seat.

John Roush, President of Centre College (Danville, Kentucky)

John has been involved in the Bonner Network since 1990 at two institutions, the University of Richmond and Centre College. Since 1998, at Centre College, he has overseen the addition of 14 new endowed professorships; instituted a Centre Scholars Program to honor outstanding work at the junior faculty rank; successfully revised the curriculum; finished work on the College Centre, a $24 million addition to and renovation of Crounse Hall, the College’s primary academic space and library, Sutcliffe Hall, the fitness and recreation facility at Centre, welcomed several new buildings to campus. John earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Ohio University’s Honors College, where he was Scholar Athlete of the Year and a three-time Academic All-American in football. His higher education career has spanned athletics, faculty, and administration.

A space to share your truth. We encourage you to write poetry about the current events and how you feel. In the session, there would be guided prompts that you can use or you can free write to craft your story. We'll start at 6:45 pm, following a short break after Stories of Impact. There is no additional materials needed to participate. The purpose of this session is for people to reflect on the year and have a space to be supported by their peers. The Bonner Foundation recognizes the pain and suffering of members of the Bonner Network and the broader community. [Pre-register here!]
