Associate Director for Dialogue & Civic Action
Stetson University is looking to hire a new Associate Director for Dialogue & Civic Action at Stetson!
This position is charged with leading our dialogue-based programming efforts, administering social action trainings/programs (including those with current students and with high school students across Florida), and supervising a Graduate Assistant who is responsible for outreach efforts for current students who are not yet involved in high-impact community engagement programs (e.g., athletics teams, Greeks, residence halls). The full position description is attached.
A few key elements of this new position:
Position title: Associate Director of Dialogue & Civic Action
Report to: Director of Community Engagement
Location: Stetson University in DeLand, Florida
to be clear about the whole “Florida” thing: we’re a private institution, so we’re exempt from the shenanigans you probably associate with social justice education in Florida, and we boldly lean into the education and training spaces that our public counterparts have had to vacate across our state (as you can tell from this position)
Salary: around $45-46k (depending on qualifications)
You’ll love this position if you believe in the power of dialogue to build bridges that increase understanding and capacity for action, and if you believe in the power of young people to be ambitious changemakers in local and global communities.
You’ll be a great fit for this position if you are a skilled listener and facilitator who can make anyone feel heard and understood, and if you are a highly-organized event planner who can be relied on to plan everything from an informal hour-long dialogue to a multi-day summer camp for several dozen high-school students.
Priority Application date: Sunday, June 23
Start date: *Hopefully* July 2024, but no later than August (we’re hoping to make this a fast search)

Graduate Assistant
Maybe a GA position would be of interest instead? Stetson is also has a Graduate Assistant position opening up, which would be a great fit for recent Bonner graduates who are looking to continue working through a community engagement office while getting a (free or steeply discounted) master’s degree. This position would focus on engaging non-Bonner students in community engagement as part of our efforts to build more on-ramps for every student to do deep, meaningful work in their communities.
